Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Training is a practical, 3 hour course that prepares you to recognize the need for and perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation and defibrillation on adults and children over the age of 1 year. You will learn or review the steps that need to be taken to deal with patients with cardiac and breathing emergencies, including practice in CPR and the early and effective use of an AED.
The course takes you through the steps of CHECK – CALL – CARE, and will teach you the skills that you will need to safely administer first aid in an urban environment until emergency medical services can be summoned to the scene. Successful completion of the course practical exercises and skill demonstration sets will result in an Adult and Child CPR & AED Certification by the American Red Cross that is valid for 2 years from the date of the course.
This course is open to all registered adult volunteers, Boy Scouts (age 17 and older), Varsity Team Members, Sea Scout Crew members, or Venturing Crew members.
The cost for the Adult & Child CPR & AED course is $25. The course is limited to the first 16. Priority will be given to those who need this course certification in order to participate in the Wilderness & Remote First Aid training that begins the next day.
