Swimming and Water Rescue
The Mt. Diablo Silverado Council Aquatics Committee is offering a course in Swimming and Water Rescue, including Safe Swim Defense and a 4 hour session of practical water rescue training.
The Guide to Safe Scouting: It is strongly recommended that all units have at least one adult or older youth member currently trained in BSA Swimming and Water Rescue or BSA Lifeguard to assist in planning and conducting all swimming activities.
Part 1: Classroom work
Friday, May 4th, 6 – 10pm – MDSC Council Offices, 800 Ellinwood Way, Pleasant Hill
Part 2: Practical Skills (Pool work)
Sunday, May 13th, 2- 6pm – Campolindo High School Pool, 300 Moraga Rd, Moraga

Limited Space!- Course has limited space – First come first served to the first 16 registrants. No Refunds with cancellation of less than 5 days prior to the Course.
Health Forms – You must bring a copy of your Annual Health & Medical Record – parts A, B and C.
Swimming Requirement – you must be able to pass the BSA Swimmers test to take this course: Jump feet-first into water over the head in depth, level off, and begin swimming. Swim 75 yards in a strong manner using one or more of the following strokes: sidestroke, breaststroke, Trudgen, or crawl; then swim 25 yards using an easy resting backstroke. The 100 yards must be swum continuously and include at least one sharp turn. After completing the swim, rest by floating.
Youth participation is subject to approval by the Course Instructor on a space available basis. Youth participants must be at least 15 years old, have reached the rank of star, and can demonstrate the knowledge and skills identified for adult participants. An adult must accompany all youth attendees.
Cost of course is $25. Late fee of $10 applied after April 29th. Required manual for the course is Aquatics Supervision and can be purchased at the East Bay Scout Shop.
