The Developing Youth Leadership Conference (DYLC) focuses on the tools every adult needs to mentor and develop our outstanding youth leaders. It is built on the concepts our members learn at the National Leadership Seminar, and it uses the NLS terminology as participants learn new tools and techniques of how to mentor and develop our outstanding youth leaders.

Check-In will begin at 5:00 p.m. Friday evening. Friday dinner is provided. First NLS session will start promptly at 8:00 p.m and first DYLC session will start promptly at 7:30pm. The seminar will conclude at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon after a closing recognition banquet lunch.

The National Leadership Seminar (NLS) is a weekend training program focusing on leadership development. Run by the Region Chief and his Advisers, it provides an in-depth look at leadership skills and techniques. An NLS discusses how these skills can be applied in your role in the OA and in other aspects of your life. The National Leadership Seminar is a weekend conference on the skills and attributes of leadership. It is intended primarily to enhance the leadership skills of the Order of the Arrow’s key youth and adult members as they seek to improve their services to the Boy Scouts of America and the greater community. Near the end of the seminar, participants make a contract with themselves to apply the skills studied in the seminar on projects in their lodge, council, and community.

Registration will begin at 5:00 p.m. Friday evening. First NLS session will start promptly at 8:00 p.m. and the first DYLC session will start promptly at 7:30 pm. The seminar will conclude at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon after a closing recognition banquet lunch. Participation for the entire weekend through Sunday is required for recognition of completion of the NLS and DYLC courses; please do not register unless you are committed to attending Friday evening through Sunday in entirety.

With the exception of the Lake Tahoe NLS/DYLC, participants are on their own for their Friday evening meal. The first meal for the participants at the Los Angeles and Denver/Colorado Spring NLS/DYLC events will be breakfast on Saturday morning.

Adults age 21 and older are eligible to attend the Developing Youth Leadership Conference (DYLC) and do not necessarily need to have previously attended NLS but it is recommended. Adults who are currently or will soon hold a lodge-level or chapter-level adviser position are encouraged to attend DYLC. The NLS training is open to anyone seeking to hone their leadership skills applicable to Scouting as well as daily life. Adults who are unsure which might be best for them should talk to their lodge adviser for guidance or e-mail training@western.oa-bsa.org.

Time to Pay your Dues

Click here to pay your Dues

Ut-In Sélica Lodge dues are renewed annually.  Dues can be renewed online or through the mail. Dues are $15 per year. You do not have to pay back dues, just pay the current year to get current. For questions regarding dues status or pocket flap orders, contact chongwoman@comcast.net. Don’t wait, remember you must be a dues paid member to participate in lodge activities.

The Order of the Arrow, Scouting’s Honor Society, is made up of thousands of great Scouts and Scouters like yourself, who were elected to the Order by their fellow Scouts because they saw something in you, something special – those qualities of trust, leadership, friendship, brotherhood, and a desire to serve others – that set you apart.

You undertook the Induction to prove your dedication to the high ideals of service that is the hallmark of our Order. Perhaps you have achieved an even greater understanding of Wimachtendienk, Wingolauchsik, Witahemui  by sealing your membership through the Brotherhood, or even now keep the flame of cheerful service alive through leadership in service. You are an Arrowman and we ask that you continue your support for the Order of the Arrow and its worthy goals which are more important now than ever.

An active member in Ut-In Sélica Lodge is someone who is a currently registered Scout or Scouter in the Mt Diablo Silverado Council with current dues paid. With active membership, you are entitled to attend all functions of the lodge appropriate for your honor level. It also entitles you to wear your OA flap. Technically, if you don’t pay your dues, you are not a member, and the flap should be removed from your uniform.

Think back on your Ordeal. Remember the Obligation and Admonition. Remember … “The ones, who chose you, need you.”
